Case Study
Alongside
Our own product: the paperwork of a ship-to-ship transfer, drafted by software, signed by the Master.
A ship-to-ship transfer superintendent spends around six hours per operation typing the same documents: the joint plan of operations, the compatibility study, the mooring plan, the OCIMF checklists. Alongside reads the ships' papers and drafts all of it in the superintendent's own templates.
The Challenge
Software for a niche where the users are at sea, the documents are safety critical, and nothing can be signed by a machine. The product has to draft, never decide: the superintendent reviews, corrects and signs.
The Approach
Built as a product of the studio, with a working superintendent as the domain expert, so every field on every document is the one a real operation needs.
Public site and interactive demo first, to show the idea to operators before the full platform exists.
Document engine, templates, accounts and billing built in stages, each one checked against real transfer paperwork.
What We Delivered
- ✓Public site with pricing and pilot request
- ✓Interactive demo of the drafting flow
- ✓Document templates for the five core documents
The Outcome
In build. Site and demo are live on a staging address; the drafting engine and accounts are in development. First pilots with real operators come next.
