Secretele Biologiei
A question bank platform for biology students preparing for university entrance.
Secretele Biologiei is a private biology tutoring practice in Brașov. Its students prepare for the BAC and for medical school entrance exams, and the teacher wanted the exercises she uses in class available to every student, structured by chapter, with progress tracked per person.
The Challenge
The hard part was never the code. It was turning printed exercise books into a database where every question knows its chapter, its answer key and its source page, without the answer key ever reaching the browser where a student could read it.
The Approach
Parsed 575 questions from the reference workbook into a structured bank, each with its answer key, chapter and page, and stored them in Postgres with column level permissions so the key stays on the server.
Built the shelf and the mixer: a student picks chapters and the platform composes a test that prioritises questions they have not seen, then ones they got wrong, before anything they already know.
Accounts, progress and per student statistics on Supabase, so the teacher sees who practised what, and the student sees exactly where they stand.

The Outcome
